#3 - Apprentice to the Villain
This is just so much fun. The playfulness of the characters set against a very real threat creates a nice balance of light and dark. Speaking of dark, who could have guessed that's where the story was going? I love that we get more of Kingsley in this book. I love that we're getting more of many secondary characters as the story glances away from Tristan and Evie, not that I don't enjoy them as well. It's interesting to see Maehrer build out her world that feels like an almost-not-quite fairy tale. I'm always a sucker for a quippy female character and this series has a few of those. Definitely curious to see where we're going to end up.
