#1 - If Shakespeare was an Auntie
I saw this on a friend's recently read list and I thought I would try it out, especially since I enjoy a good light romance. I did not realize at the time that Sharma was taking old Shakespearean tales and making modern adaptations. I won't spoil which tale she has adapted for this one. This is an easy, fun read with Kareena having to deal with the fact that her mother's house is being sold out from under her. When she meets Prem, a TV doctor with ideals of his own, they immediately fall into a love-hate relationship. This will-they, won't-they isn't so much of a question for a reader who knows the genre but it didn't make the foregone conclusion any less sweet. Each lover also comes with two friends, thereby setting up the next two novels. I never truly fell deep into this book but I didn't need to; it was a light read that kept me entertained throughout. My favorite characters (which I think is the intention of Sharma) are the aunties who show up to meddle in the lives of the young lovers, playing the roles of the Greek chorus.
