#1 - The Radiant Emperor
I rounded out April with this one which I have seen in many a list of books to read. I don't know if it was the timing of this or what was happening in my life but I did not gravitate towards this the way I wanted to. I was very interested in Zhu's story but found Ouyang's storyline less captivating, which is a shame because I feel like I'm supposed to find them equally fascinating. I do like Zhu's bloody-mindedness and Ma is a great foil to really emphasize that. Chan's writing is good and the world created is clear; it just didn't hit home for me. That being said, the ending left me interested in reading the next book in the series, if only to see where it is going.
