I don't recall how I came across this book but I feel it was recommended to me. I'm not usually a space opera kind of person but I really enjoyed the whole fractal element of this tale. I wasn't so sure I was going to get on board at first. Kyr is way to militant, but that's the whole point. I loved her relationship with her brother and her discovery of herself. I couldn't quite wrap my head around the teenage aspect of the characters - for me, they all read a little older, mid-20s or so. It didn't take me out of the story. I though it was a nice reflection on what it means to be human as well. I will be checking out some other Emily Tesh books. It's quite a debut novel.
